Sisters Park & Recreation District proudly offers a variety of youth athletic programs throughout the year. We believe youth athletics play an important role in the physical, social, emotional, and mental development of children. Our youth athletic programs are designed to be recreational and promote a non-competitive approach to youth sports. We strive to create a safe, fun, and positive experience with an emphasis on participation, instruction, teamwork, and sportsmanship that allows children of all abilities an opportunity to play, learn, and improve their skills. Program Information

“Playing Up”

Participants are required to register and participate in their designated age/grade division for all youth athletic programs. Players are not permitted to “play up” in an older age/grade division unless otherwise authorized by the program supervisor and for exceptional circumstances only.

Incorrect Age/Grade

If your child’s age/grade is incorrect in your household account, an age/grade change may be requested from the district’s front desk. All age/grade change requests must be supported with official records (i.e. birth certificate, school records, etc.)  to confirm the child’s age/grade.

It is the district’s goal to create fair, balanced, and equally competitive teams in terms of age, skill and ability as best possible.

Grade K-2: teams will be divided at the discretion of the program coordinator.

Grade 3-8: teams may be divided using the results from player skill assessments, depending on the total number of participants and teams.

It is the district’s goal to create fair, balanced, and equally competitive teams in terms of age, skill and ability as best possible. To maintain this goal, special requests for specific coaches, teams, or “buddies” are not guaranteed.

These requests create difficulties in our programs when trying to create fair, balanced, and equally competitive teams, and often lead to certain teams having an unfair advantage throughout the season.

Exceptions:

  1. A coach’s child will always be placed on their team;
  2. Siblings within the same grade division will be placed on the same team unless specifically requested not to by the parent/guardian.

Volunteer, Make a Difference!

Become a volunteer coach! All of our youth athletic teams are coached by volunteers. Volunteer coaches are a vital part of our youth athletic programs, supporting the district’s goal to keep programs affordable so everyone can play!

Volunteer coaches are teachers and mentors for the children on their teams, responsible for teaching sports skills, game play, and good sportsmanship. Additionally, volunteer coaches model important life skills such as accountability, responsibility, respect, and foster self-confidence.

Some sports experience is preferred, but not required. The district provides basic sports training and support. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application and pass a background check to be eligible.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer coach, please email our program coordinator for more information.

Become a Sponsor!

Sisters Park & Recreation District organizes 500+ kids in its youth athletic programs each year. Our youth athletic sponsors are an important part of this success that allows the district to purchase jerseys, provide quality equipment, and help the district keep registration fees affordable so all of Sisters’ youth have an opportunity to play!

If you’re interested in becoming a youth athletic sponsor, please email our program coordinator for more information.
