Stay healthy and active all year round with Sisters Park & Recreation District! We offer a variety of weekly drop-in group fitness classes including Better Bones & Balance and Zumba, and a number of seasonal, registration-based, specialty fitness classes, such as Tai Chi, throughout the year. All classes take place at the Sisters Community Recreation Center and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited space, we have implemented a maximum capacity for some classes. We encourage participants to arrive early to guarantee the best chance of a spot in class.

Class Descriptions

Better Bones & Balance

Better Bones & Balance is a community-based fall and fracture risk-reduction exercise program. This is a research based exercise class developed at Oregon State University. Classes are designed to gradually improve balance and strength to avoid falls and maintain independence through strength and resistance training, aerobics, and balance exercises. Participants should come prepared and dressed to move.

Circuit Training - NEW!

Circuit Training is a blend of strength, cardio and mobility in a functional circuit style class, incorporating dynamic, full body movements. Expect an engaging, high-energy, challenging environment focused on improving overall fitness. Come to sweat, smile, get strong and support each other.

Muscle Maintenance

Muscle Maintenance is designed to help aging adults build and maintain strength through safe and effective strength training and resistance exercises. Exercises target all major muscle groups to enhance balance, stability, and everyday functional movements – modifications are offered to suit individual fitness levels. Whether you are new to strength training or an experience fitness enthusiast, this class will help you safely strengthen and maintain your muscles for long-term and vitality.

Tai Chi (Taijiquan)

Unlock balance and flow with Yang Style 8 Taijiquan (Tai Chi) class. We’re starting with the essentials: foundations, flow, and sustainable practice. Strengthen your stability muscles, find your center, and cultivate mindful movement. Ready to move with intention? Join us and experience the power of Tai Chi.

Zumba

Zumba is a high-energy, upbeat exercise class designed as a full-body workout set to a mixture of Latin and international music. Routines combine fast and slow rhythms to achieve a balance of cardio and muscle-toning benefits. No experience is required.

 

Drop-in Opportunities

Our Fitness Studio is open and available for individual workouts when not scheduled for group fitness classes. Available equipment includes: aerobic steps, dumbbells, kettlebells,jump ropes, medicine ball, and resistance bands.

Admission Fees
