Bike Park 242 Gets a Fresh Look Thanks to COTA Volunteers and Community Support

Sisters Park & Recreation District (SPRD) is excited to share that Bike Park 242 has received a series of exciting upgrades over the past few months, made possible through the dedication of local volunteers and generous support from community partners.

In collaboration with the Central Oregon Trail Alliance (COTA), the park saw several improvements aimed to enhance the rider experience and keep the park vibrant and safe for all users. Recent upgrades have included:

  • Reconstruction of the Large Pump Track
    The pump track was fully demoed and rebuilt, breathing new life into this popular park feature. This project was funded by grants secured through COTA, and completed entirely by COTA volunteers. A total of 10 volunteers contributed 70 hours to this project.
  • Installation of a New Pavilion
    A new welcome pavilion now greets riders at the park entrance, offering a shaded gathering space for users and events. This improvement was made possible by a $1,620 City of Sisters Community Grant, with additional funding from COTA. A total of 4 volunteers contributed 171 hours were to bring this project to life.
  • Fresh Paint for the Jump Launch Pad
    The jump launch pad received a fresh coat of paint enhancing both aesthetics and safety. A total of 4 volunteers contributed 26 hours to this project.
  • Ongoing Seasonal Repairs and Weed Mitigation
    Routine seasonal maintenance, including repairs and vegetation control, was also tackled by COTA’s hardworking volunteers.

Bike Park 242 is maintained through a combination of SPRD general funds, COTA funds, and a variety of grants, and donations. The district’s strong partnership with COTA plays a critical role in keeping this space functional and fun.

COTA is a local nonprofit dedicated to the development, protection, and enhancement of mountain biking experiences across Central Oregon. Their volunteer-powered efforts continue to make a big impact in the Sisters community.
