2018 Summer Camps
Earth Keepers Adventure Camp
The Earth Keepers program was developed by Jen Binks for SPRD and is inspired by kids and the environment. This education program has been developed to weave together ecological principles with the teachings and beliefs of indigenous cultures. Camp themes are organized by week and within each week are several activities and experiences.
1-5 (2018-2019 school year)
$165 full week 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM – register 1 week prior to secure spot (The week of July 4th is discounted as camp will not run on the 4th)
$125/$160 respectively for any preregistration (1 week prior) for any 3 or 4 days ***Call to register***
$45 Any Full Day Drop-In (must be registered a week prior to attend field trip days)
Week 1 | June 18 – June 22 | Life Keepers
This week we will learn about the interrelationships between plants, animals, and us. We will learn more about life cycles in our forests.
Week 2 | June 25 – June 29 | Seed Keepers
Spend the week exploring why seeds are so important to our planet. We will plant seeds, learn about gardening, and learn more about plants and seeds in the forest.
Week 3 | July 2 – July 6 | Sisters Exploration ***NO camp July 4th***
This week we will be learning about the City of Sisters. What has changed over the last year? We will learn about our community and how it affects our environment. We will enjoy scavenger hunts both in nature and around local businesses.
Week 4 | July 9 – July 13 | River Keepers
Spend the week learning about the rivers, creeks, and lakes that surround us. We will learn about what lives in and around our water sources. Don’t miss this awesome week celebrating the rivers and creeks in our community.
Week 5 | July 16 – July 20 | Sky Keepers
Learn about the birds of the sky. We will learn about habitats, what birds eat, and how important they are to our forests. Sprout your own wings and cruise through a high energy, high flying week of fun.
Week 6 | July 23 – July 27 | Wild Keepers
What waits for us in the forest? Spend the week discovering which wild animals live in the Central Oregon wilderness. Find out what wild species live in your backyard!
Week 7 | July 30 – August 3 | Keepers of the Past
In order to be stewards of the future, we must learn from the past. Take a walk back in history and find out how early settlers and Native Americans interacted with the world, and especially here in Sisters Country.
Week 8 | August 6 – August 10 | Future Keepers
This will be a week of learning our connection to protecting the Earth for future generations. Projects will include recycled art, conservation, restoration, and discovering endangered species in the Central Oregon area.
Week 9 | August 13 – August 17 | The Arts
Spend the week exploring the various art forms of music, theater, and art. Grow your creative vision and passion as you learn about these art forms.
Week 10 | August 20 – August 24 | Games & Mazes
This week will have the kids playing as well as building. Candy catapults, chocolate bowls, homemade geo-board mazes, and chain reaction activities are on the list of fun!
***Camps will include field trips including but not limited to: High Desert Museum, Sisters Library, Madras Aquatic Center, and local lakes, rivers, and trails. ONLY pre-registered campers will participate in the field trips. Specific camp schedules for each week will be available and sent out to registered campers the week before camp. Campers must bring lunch each day and wear clothes that can get wet & dirty, as well as a change of clothes.***
There will be NO camp August 27-31.
Survival Camp is BACK!
Learn how to take care of yourself out in the wilderness by signing up for Survival Camp. Kids will learn practical skills like rope tying, fire starting, building shelters, first aid, orienteering, traps and more. This course is ideal for those of us who enjoy camping, hiking, hunting, and spending time in the outdoors.
Monday thru Friday 9am-4pm
8 – 13 (2018-2019 school year)
Participants will spend two days engaged in a design challenge using science, technology, engineering and math. Working together, participants will learn the skills and knowledge needed to master the challenge. Past years have included chemistry, robotics, rocketry, astro-biology, coding, and many others. The challenge will be revealed on day one of camp. Instructors are current and past graduate students from OSU-Cascades’ Masters in Teaching program. The camp is free, thanks to a generous donation by the Roundhouse Foundation.

Jim Anderson Camp for Science & Nature
This inaugural science and nature camp will feature programs developed and taught by education professionals from the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council and Discover Your Forest, with guest appearances by Jim Anderson, Elise Wolf, and others. Enrollment limited to 15 campers, preregistration required.

Friday: Life in the Lava (Lava River Cave)

Campers must bring their own lunch daily.
Great Northwest Running Camp (GNW)
Get the Summer’s Best Training! Our Cross Country Running Camp is right at the start of summer. Runners going into grades 6-12 can start their summer training with an unforgettable experience.
Our Advantage: Sisters, Oregon, provides the perfect location for a cross country running camp. Not only is Sisters Country one of the most beautiful places on earth, but within a few miles of town there are spectacular trails ranging from 3,000 to over 6,000 feet elevation, from completely flat to insanely steep. This allows our experienced coaches to provide a fantastic variety of exciting and challenging workouts to fit any runner’s ability level. The camp will feature a variety of workouts tailored to build strength, speed, and endurance with a great balance of high altitude, hills, and flat runs. Our team has a scientific approach to training and understand how to structure the week to include work, rest, recreation, and recovery to give maximum benefit to participants.

Sisters Middle School
PGA Junior Sports Academy
Junior Golfers, come out and join our PGA Sports Academy! We will focus not only on golf, but nutrition, sportsmanship, and other healthy activities. FUN-first is our mantra for juniors. We feel strongly that golf should be fun and interactive. Though our goal is to educate our junior golfers and get them excited about the game, keeping the game fun is our primary focus. The Academy is for junior golfers who are new to the game or have played very little in the past.
Tuesday – Thursday/9:00 – 12:00
Lunch will not be provided. We will provide equipment if needed.
Youth Basketball Skills Camp
This camp will be run by the Outlaw coaching staff. Campers will work on skill development, ball handling, passing, shooting and many break down games.
The Camp will also prepare campers for the High School program. The camp focus will be learning our core values and working on positive training techniques for the off-season.

Join Head Varsity Coach Rory Rush for a fun-filled 4-days of learning fundamental volleyball skills. This camp is open to boys and girls.
Each day will introduce a new skill necessary to be a successful volleyball player. This will be followed by guided practice and implementation in a game-like setting. Time will be spent each day in game situations and fun competitions.

Youth Football Camp
Come have fun in the sun with High School Players as counselors and the High School Coaches supervising. We will make time for slip-n-slides, water balloons, egg toss competitions, and… oh yeah, play a little football while we’re at it. This 3 day camp will be packed with energy and time together as Outlaws all while enhancing our football skills. We will have an emphasis on: safe practice techniques, throwing, catching, blocking and tackling without pads to ensure future success with them.

This program will teach beginners, intermediates, and advanced level players technique for the game of tennis. Bim Gander, former Sisters High School boys’ tennis coach, will cover scoring and all of the essential tennis strokes. All participants should have tennis shoes and a racquet, if possible. A limited number of racquets can be supplied if the request is made when you register. Sign up for all three camps and get $10 off the third camp.
