Internships provide opportunities to gain valuable work experience while helping the park district accomplish important program and office related tasks. Interns are required to serve a minimum of 200 hours. These positions are geared towards people 18 years and older or returning volunteers who have successfully completed two years of the Leaders in Training Experience (LITE) Program.

Internship Positions:

Nature Kids Preschool Intern

Work with preschool classes and assist with the preparation of program materials at the SPRD Facilities. Applicants must have some experience working with children and be available to volunteer at least Tu/Thu mornings or M/W/F afternoons from September through December or January through June. Positions are open until filled.

Nature Mobile Intern

Gain valuable experience in environmental education as a Nature Mobile Intern! Programs are based out of SPRD and take place at parks, schools and community destinations throughout Sisters, Oregon. This position assists with engaging activities, preparing materials and supervising program participants of all ages to provide a safe, enjoyable and educational experience. Applicants must be available to work a flexible schedule that may include weekdays, weekends and evenings from June through September.

Exercise Science Intern

Get experience shadowing experienced staff while managing fitness classes and personal training session at a district recreation or pool facility. Applicants must have knowledge of or a willingness to learn fitness programming and community engagement techniques, while working a flexible scheduled for a minimum of three months.

Landscape Maintenance Intern

Build your skills in landscape maintenance, irrigation management and more while interning at the Sisters Recreation campus. Applicants must have some basic gardening experience, an interest in learning more about the field of landscape maintenance and be available to work a flexible scheduled for a minimum of three months.

Community Program Intern

Join staff at Sisters Recreation to gain valuable experience in recreational programming. This position assists with developing and providing engaging activities, preparing materials and supervising program participants, ages 2 – adult. Applicants must have some experience working with children and be available to work a flexible schedule for a minimum of three months.

Park Patrol Intern

Shadow experienced staff to perform site patrols and provide a safe and friendly experience for district patrons. Applicants must have an interest in law enforcement and be available to work a flexible schedule for a minimum of three months.
