Sisters Middle School Track and Field is a fantastic spring sport for aspiring runners, throwers, and jumpers. Learn the fundamentals of the sport and get instruction that will help propel your high school career. Teamwork, fundamentals, participation, and experimentation is the name of the game at the middle school track level.

All students playing must have a physical on record at SPRD current within two years.

Join Thomas Wilkinson, our new mountain biking coach, this spring to head out on the trails and learn about SPRD’s pump track. Bring your own bike or use and SPRD bike for the duration of the program. Blazin’ Saddles sponsors this program with discounts on equipment and labor. Middle School Tackle Football is a joint operation between the Sisters School District and SPRD. The middle school team plays area teams including Madras, Crook County, Burns, Culver, and La Pine.

Cross-Country Running

Grades 6-8

Sisters Middle School and SPRD partner together for middle school cross country. The season starts the first day of school and runs into October. Meets and practices will be during the week. This is a great way for kids to stay in shape, race competitively with other schools, and create lasting friendships. First practice of the season will be Tuesday, August 30.

All students playing must have a physical on record at SPRD current within two years.

Volleyball

There are some FREE skills session happening on August 16, 18, 23, and 25 that are for all kids that register for volleyball before August 15th.  It is a great time for your kids to get a refresher time on the court to get ready for the season or for those that are trying volleyball for the first time.  The sessions are put on by the coaches and will be a fun time for the kids to get back into the volleyball groove and to work on some skills.  For more information please contact Coach Myhre at (541) 350-2684.

 

Grade 6

6th graders will be creating their own team this year through the BPRD. This league will focus on developing our middle school program, moving toward a slightly more competitive model. Kids will still have plenty of fun and new kids are encouraged to join! Practices will be twice per week with games mid-week.

SPRD has been working with area park and recreation departments to bring Madras, Sisters, Prineveille, and other communities together for a youth basketball league. There will be home and away games in all of our communities. This new league will offer more competition for our small communities by enabling us to play a wider pool of players. It will also make the league more fun since kids will not be playing the same teams numerous times over the course of the season. This new league is for kids in grades 1-6. We are looking forward to this season!

The Central Oregon Basketball Organization plays host to competitive Central Oregon area teams. Make sure to be in touch with school coaches and SPRD officials to stay abreast of when tryouts will be held.

This Sisters Shootout Basketball Tournament is a fundraiser for Sisters Basketball and as such parents are expected to volunteer two hours at the Sisters Shootout Tournaments.

Catch a bus after school to go Nordic skiing! This program is aimed at having fun and learning to ski. Kids will be broken up into skill groups to learn how to classic ski.

OVC TRYOUTS – SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH, 2016

SISTERS MIDDLE SCHOOL
Session 1 – 12U/14U  From 4:00 – 5:30
Session 2 – 16U/18U  From 5:30 – 7:00
Information time will take place the first 15 minutes for each session.  Teams will be determined by the number of girls that go out and the number of coaches.  OVC tries to avoid cuts at all costs but we also have to limit teams numbers in order to provide a playing environment that promotes playing time.  For more information please contact [email protected].

 

MS Americana

The Americana Project will be offering a middle school guitar and singing program through the Sisters Folk Festival this winter. The program focuses on basic guitar skills, appreciation of music, and singing simple songs. The Americana Project is the educational outreach program of the Sisters Folk Festival and has been offering music support in the Sisters School District for 15 years.
