Dear SPRD families,
As you may know the SPRD after school program has been grant funded for the last 6 years, this has allowed us to offer the homework portion of the program at no cost to the participants. These grant funds contributed roughly $30,000 to the program annually. This year both our major grant funders opted not to fund the program this cycle. These grantors receive many requests every year, and in the case of OCF which has provided the majority of the funds for the last 6 years, they only are able to fund about one third of their applicants. Therefore this school year the afterschool program will be run out of the Sisters Park and Recreation District Office, near Sisters High School. Parents needing after school care will have their kids ride the bus from Sisters Elementary School to Sisters High School where they will be picked up by the SPRD Community Schools Coordinator & Assistants. Kids enrolled in this program are charged a flat $8 per day for every day of the week and for the entire 3:00pm - 5:00pm hours.
