Dear Parents and friends of Outlaws LAX,
On Monday I sent an email to everyone registered for Lacrosse this past season. I have heard that some people did not get this email. Therefore I am posting it here and to our website also. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Dear Lacrosse Parents,

I am writing to keep everyone updated on current steps forward with the Lacrosse program.
In early July I sent out an email explaining that coach Gorayeb had resigned and SPRD was looking at how to move forward with restructuring the Lacrosse program. I invited everyone to respond with their thoughts and suggestions, and I have been working with some of those who responded. We have been working to construct a plan for the future and have come to the conclusion that forming a new committee to help advise on lacrosse related issues is the best step forward. As part of that process we have conducted meetings with other lacrosse programs in central Oregon and have incorporated some of the successful strategies from their program into our plan. At the September 1st board meeting the SPRD board will be voting to approve a new partner committee policy document. That document outlines new policies for governing programs such as lacrosse, including mandating a committee of at least 5 to help advise on the operation of the program, set budgets, and assist with communication throughout the program. This past year the lacrosse program including the SALI tournament had revenues of just over $85,000 and expenses of just over $92,000. Revenues and expenses from the season are still coming in, and it may be another month or so before everything is 100 percent finalized. However, it is assumed that the program will finish with a deficit. I will be asking the SPRD board to consider reallocating some money into the lacrosse account that was raised by lacrosse and earmarked for building more permanent yurt structures. This way we may be able to allow lacrosse to start the year without a deficit, but this is far from certain. Because of these financial difficulties, next season fundraising will be of key importance to the success of the program. In talks with other lacrosse programs we have found that some estimate the cost of running a varsity lacrosse program to be as high as $1,000 per athlete. Obviously with $300 pay-to-play fees, this leaves a lot of room to be made up with fundraising efforts.

We are accepting applications for 5 positions on the lacrosse committee. I have attached a copy of the committee application. Applications must be received by Friday August 28th at 5:00pm. The SPRD board of directors will then review the applications and appoint from that pool of candidates at their September 1st board meeting. Candidates are asked to attend this board meeting so the board can ask them questions, and get to know them a little better. The board meeting starts at 6:00pm, and the board will try to get to this as early in the agenda as possible.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me
